May 23th- Goodbye Venice---> Hello Modena!
This morning we left Venice on a water taxi and headed to the bus stop. At the bus stop, we had a private bus waiting for us. Even today, the day we leave Venice, it's still raining! Then guess what?...it's raining in Modena.
Actually we stayed in a hotel in Vignola. Once settled in the hotel, we went for a little orientation and a tour of the Vignola Castle. The castle was amazing. There were pretty paintings on the walls and ceilings of the castle. The one thing that caught my attention was the timeline. Ugh I wish I would of taken a picture of it.
There were many rooms and stairs. Oh my, the stairs. The hallways were very narrow and the stairs were so small. I wear a size 6 in shoe and my entire foot did not fit on the steps. And boy were there a lot of stairs. The bad part was that I was curious of it all so I wanted to enter every room. It turns out that once going down the stairs, it was a dead end. So, then I had to climb the stairs again. The same thing happened in the next room. I was just wondering, "how would one know where to find the king or queen during that big maze! It was all worth it at the end. The last view I had was from up in the bell tower. The bell tower looked amazing and the view from above was just wonderful.
I love your curiosity. That is probably the greatest attribute of a teacher... and enthusiasm. You have been so open to all of these new experiences, yes, even the stairs! I truly appreciate it. Iam thinking of a math activity where students climb stairs and see if they can reach the number YOU did in Vignola Castle, La Rocca. It was fun to share this part of the trip with you and Greg. Thanks for your engagement!
